An independent UKAS accredited provider of 3rd party certification in support of fire safety and security

UKCA Marking

We have bilateral agreements in place with European based partners to allow us to continue providing Fire Safety Product Compliance services in the UK and EU respectively.

CE and UKCA Marking

This marking provides a system under which a product is evaluated to a set of minimum requirements embodied in technical specifications enabling it to be placed on the European market.

As a Notified Certification Body in the UK and with our bilateral agreements with European based Applus+ Laboratories, we are able to attest your fire protection products, enabling you to affix the UKCA and CE Mark and sell your products in Europe.

The arrangement will allow both Certification Bodies to continue providing their Fire Safety product compliance services in the UK and EU respectively. This is important for satisfying the market demands of our clients, whose products will legally require both the CE mark and UKCA mark from 1st January 2022.

Understanding the Marks

As clients of IFC Certification you will benefit from our partnership with Applus+ Laboratories, as you will be able to get both marks without having to repeat the same processes or testing (subject to technical peer review).

The UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) marking is a new UK product marking that is used for goods being placed on the market in Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland). It covers most goods which previously required the CE marking, known as ‘new approach’ goods.

The UKCA marking came into effect on 1 January 2021. However, to allow businesses time to adjust to the new requirements, you will still be able to use the CE marking until 1 January 2023 in most cases.

More info about UKCA can be found on the UK Gov website:

CE Mark denotes compliance with minimum performance requirements enabling a product to be placed on the European market. The CE Mark is not a ‘Quality Mark’ and should not be confused with ‘Third Party Product Certification’. This is also offered separately by IFCC under its ‘Product Certification’ service.
