What is SMR Certification
The IFCC Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) Certification Schemes provide independent third party assurance that your organisation is competent to maintain and repair fire protection systems.
Built on the SMR governance framework and delivered under UKAS accreditation, the schemes assess your management systems, engineer competence and on site performance. SMR certification helps you demonstrate compliance, strengthen trust and meet the expectations of the Building Safety Act.
Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) is the overarching certification framework governing the assessment of organisations delivering service, maintenance and repair of fire protection systems. It sets out the requirements for organisational capability, engineer competence and on site performance, ensuring a consistent and independent approach to verifying maintenance activities.
As the foundation for all SMR schemes it provides the governance upon which discipline specific modules (such as SMR 01 for smoke control systems) are built, enabling a scalable structure that can be applied across multiple fire protection technologies.
